We are recruiting for a PART-TIME Code Enforcement Officer working in Fort Pierce. Ideal candidates may have prior code enforcement, law enforcement, animal control, security, or military experience. This position involves technical work identifying, investigating and enforcing non-compliance with the City Code of Ordinances. In addition to working within an assigned zone addressing code enforcement violations, all Code Officers are required to assist with beach and park patrols and parking enforcement. This position may be required to work weekends and holidays at the discretion of the Director.

Your Day

• Patrol the City in a vehicle, on foot, or by bicycle looking for violations of the City Ordinances.• Respond to a wide variety of calls and complaints involving violations of the City Ordinances.• Resolve violations through voluntary compliance or take such measures as the City may direct to assure the required compliance.• Issue citations in accordance with City policy and procedures.• Conduct detailed research to determine facts in various cases.• Provide verbal and written testimony in code violation matters.• Maintain case files, records and reports.

Your Experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is required. Computer literate. Data entry, typing. Florida government experience is preferred. A comparable amount of training or education may be substituted for the minimum experience qualifications.REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS• Must possess a valid Florida Drivers License with an acceptable driving record.• Parking Enforcement Specialist Certification (must be obtained within six (6) months of hire).• Fundamentals of Code Enforcement Certification through the Florida Association of Code Enforcement (must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire).PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSLegal Aspects of Code Enforcement and Administrative Aspects of Code Enforcement Certifications through the Florida Association of Code Enforcement are preferred.WEIGHT LIFT REQUIREMENTSThe employee must occasionally lift and/or move: Up to 100 pounds
